If you're reading this article, then chances are you're a new parent. If so, congratulations! Having a baby is an exciting journey, however, it also comes with a lot of challenges. One of the biggest conundrums of a new mother is with the baby waking up at night. New infants are very sensitive to the environment, sound, lighting or even the slightest temperature change can wake them up. For this, we have 3 tips that can help your babies to sleep better at night.
Blanket
A good blanket is the first thing that could help babies to sleep better at night. Blankets could provide warmth for infants during bedtime. Newborns spend most of their time sleeping, so choosing a comfortable and sensitive skin-friendly receiving blanket is very important.
There is a wide variety of blankets, and each of them has its advantages. For example, a padded jersey blanket is relatively light and warm, while a blanket made of jacquard gauze is soft and breathable. Some blankets are also designed with multiple functions, such as could be used as either a blanket or a bath towel.
Sleeping bag
I cannot emphasize how important sleeping bags are for babies! A blanket can keep a baby warm, but as your baby grows to about 4 months old, he/she starts to move around a lot at night. Your baby might start to throw blankets off herself and this causes her to feel a change in temperature thus waking her up. A sleeping bag can make your baby feel safe just like she is in her mom’s womb. A baby sleeping bag can keep a baby’s body temperature consistent while their heads remain safely uncovered throughout the night.
There are different types of sleeping bags for babies of different ages:
For infants under 6 months of age, it is recommended to choose sleeping bags that can wrap snugly around the babies to provide a sense of security during sleep, preventing them from being woken up cold or scared.
Babies over 3 months old can use the sleeping bags either with or without split legs. The sleeping bag without legs normally has a zipper at the bottom, providing the babies with extra space to move and can be used on both cold and warm days. On the other hand, the sleeping bag with split legs is similar to a loose-fitted romper and is suitable for toddlers who are more active and able to walk.
Lullaby and hug your precious one before they sleep
Finally, a good lullaby can help your baby sleep better. When they hear a familiar voice, they feel calmer and more comfortable. Besides that, hugging your baby will let them feel a familiar temperature, scent which would help them sleep better.
